Hello Tom, these are the images for you.  I will need to talk with you while idealy we are both viewing them.  If this is agreeable send me an email as to when I can phone you and I will phone you from Beth's place so that I may have them in front of me in the order I have them up on the web.   The idea I have in mind is a very simple and will make a very fine mandala, to just see these might be confusing for you in the ways I know the piece needs to be done, so let's talk.

Image #1

Of the images here for you to view this one gives you the best sense of the possible placement of images around the circle  You can see there are three circles.   The images of the outer circle are roughly correct to how I wish to perform the piece.  The images are: Animal heads, the claws of the animals, and possibly snake heads, all acting as the temple guards or the fear that one goes through on the journey to the center of the mandala.

The bird images that make up the second circle are a recommended play.  The third one as well could be done with birds, the balance shown here is not good and looks awkward.  The ones I would do would be good and not at all awkward.  Then I would have no problem leaving the birds out completely, for I have an idea of the exploding energies with tone creating the curve of the circle that would work very well but is very difficult to express in words.

These are some of the characters that are possible for the outer framework.  They were drawn at the same time but are to be considered warm ups.  The two snakes on the lower right hand corner give a good example of how I would do them in the piece and are the best examples of how I mean to play that idea.

This drawing, rough idea of the deities of the outer circle, this one happens to have a landscape within.   This also is possible for you to consider.

Image #4

This image has a lot of the same images but with bird faces, there will be no bird faces in the mandala I was merely searching out and drawing at whim.   The one that is crudely circled is my favorite image of the attitude of the images coming around.

Image #5

This one is for your enjoyment, it's an acrylic I knocked out in that same period of time.  It is a mandala and was done with dribbled paint, etc., had a good time with it.  So enjoy.
